Fastnet Rock in Demand at Karaka

Champion sire Fastnet Rock proved popular at the 2016 NZB Premier Yearling Sale with 14 yearlings averaging $263,571, his best result a top class colt from Myrrh that made $510,000. Consigned for sale by Curraghmore, the three-quarter brother to Group I winner Triple Honour was bought by David Ellis (Te Akau). “A lovely, quality colt. Te Akau bought his brother at this sale last year and they think very highly of him,” said Curraghmore Stud’s Gordon Cunningham. “We expected the colt to sell well and the price reflects that.” Not far behind was the Fastnet Rock filly from imported Giant’s Causeway mare Most Striking (USA) that made $500,000 for Haunui Farm when bought by Astute Bloodstock/ Hawkes Racing.
