First Foals By Magna Grecia Prove Popular At Tattersalls

Dual Group 1 winner Magna Grecia was responsible for a pair of six-figure sales at Tattersalls on Thursday, having himself fetched 340,000gns at the same sale.

Arthur Hoyeau acted on behalf of end users when going to 110,000gns for Petches Farm’s Magna Grecia filly out of a half-sister to Group performers Parvaneh (Holy Roman Emperor) and Mehdi (Holy Roman Emperor). “This is a lovely, scopey filly, a good mover, with a good mix of the grandsire Invincible Spirit and damsire Fastnet Rock.”

Simon Venner, son of Petches Farm owner Paul Venner, was similarly complimentary of the bay, and said, “The Magna Grecia filly has been stunning since day one, knockout, very straightforward. We got her into prep and she never put a foot wrong. Every time she came out of the box, she just marched around.”

Glashare House Stud also reaped the rewards of Magna Grecia’s popularity when their half-brother to Stakes performer Ventura Knight sold for 100,000gns. Tom Malone signed the docket on behalf of Megan Nicholls, explaining that she had selected the colt for Roger Peel, and will be reoffered by Hillwood Stud next year.

Aughamore Stud, Margaret O’Toole and Richard Knight also joined the buyers sheet of Magna Grecia’s first foals at Tattersalls, while Tally Ho Stud, Lynn Lodge Stud, Whatton Manor Stud and Yeomanstown joined the fray at Goffs.
