First Mares In Foal To Paddington Prove Popular At Arqana
Mares in foal to Paddington sold for an average of €590,000 at the opening session of Arqana’s Vente d’Elevage.
Bloodstock agent Morten Buskop went to €750,000 for Good Hearted, an unraced Justify three-year-old filly consigned by Haras des Capucines. A half-sister to Group 1 winners Peeping Fawn and Thewayyouare, she is an example of the high quality mares covered by the multiple Group 1 winner in his first season at stud.
The same applies to the Fairway Consignment’s offering Smart Cookie. Badgers Bloodstock and Glentree Thoroughbreds gave €430,000 for the Dubawi half-sister to four Stakes horses, from the family of Fragrant Mix.
Paddington himself sold at Arqana as a yearling, bringing €420,000 from Broadhurst Agency on behalf of MV Magnier. An impressive winner of a Curragh maiden as a juvenile, the son of Siyouni went on to win his first six starts the following season, the highlights being Group 1 victories in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, St James’s Palace Stakes, Coral-Eclipse and Sussex Stakes.
