Flemensfirth’s Jetz Flies To Grade 3 Success

The Jessica Harrington-trained Jetz (7g Flemensfirth - Miss Squiff, by Saddlers’ Hall) gained a well-deserved black-type success in Saturday’s Grade 3 Flyingbolt Novice Chase at Navan.

Having finished in the first four in three Grade 1 contests since taking to fences, Gerard McGrath’s homebred returned to the two mile and one furlong trip of his Beginners Chase victory in November. Ridden to lead by Paul Townend, the bay had a clear lead by the fourth fence and was ridden from the third last to cross the line eight and a half lengths clear of his nearest rival.

On future plans, Harrington afterwards said, “He could go 2m4f, the Power Gold Cup could be an option, but he might be just a little better going left-handed.” Also a winner over hurdles, Jetz was beaten just a head in a Grade 1 Novice Hurdle last season. He is a half-brother to Grade 2 runner-up Jetez (Getaway), while his dam is closely related to top-class hurdler Jezki (Milan) and Grade 2 winner Jenari (Milan).
