Flying The Flag heads G3 1-2 for Galileo
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Flying The Flag (3c Galileo-Halfway To Heaven, by Pivotal) led home a 1-2 for Galileo when beating stablemate Aloof (3f Galileo-Airwave, by Air Express) in the G3 International Stakes at the Curragh on Friday night.
The winner had finished eighth to Ruler Of The World (3c Galileo-Love Me True, by Kingmambo) in the Derby earlier in June and he looks to have an exciting year ahead of him after this four lengths success when stepping back in trip for this 10-furlong contest under Seamie Heffernan.
“The winner is a 1m 2f horse on fast ground,” said O’Brien. “There was plenty of pace, which suited him as well. It just takes a long time sometimes to work them out. He´ll come back for races like the G2 Royal Whip Stakes.”
