Passional (3f Footstepsinthesand - Cordial, by Oasis Dream) built on some promising performances for Stuart Williams to justify favoritism at Southwell on Thursday afternoon.

Placed on his two previous starts, the bay raced prominently throughout the five furlong Novice Stakes and was pushed along to lead from two furlongs out. Keeping on with encouragement from Marco Ghiani, he scored by two and a half lengths on the line.

Owned by JW Parry and Mrs C Shekells, the daughter of Footstepsinthesand is out of Cordial, who achieved a rating of 89 for the same connections.
