G2 scorer Galikova continues run for Galileo

A simply remarkable season for Galileo continued on Monday when, on the back of a G1 double at Arlington on Saturday, he was responsible for the impressive G2 Prix Guillaume D’Ornano winner at Deauville on Monday. Galikova (3f Galileo-Born Gold by Blushing Groom), a half-sister to the great Goldikova, took the 10-furlong contest by two lengths under Christophe Soumillon and is now as short as 10/1 with bookmakers for the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. But first the Wertheimer brothers’ home-bred is set for a warm-up in the G1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp, for which she is likely to be a warm favourite. “She was more lively today than she was in the G1 Prix Diane,” trainer Freddie Head told www.racingpost.com. “It was a real race, they quickened all the time. I don't think she'll have any problem with a mile and a half and we'll go for the G1 Prix Vermeille. “She is a robust filly who will improve like her half-sister Goldikova and will probably be at her best in the autumn.”
