Galikova is Group 1 number 10 for incredible Galileo

It is hard to conjure suitable superlatives to sum up this season for Galileo, who amazingly had his 10th individual G1 winner of 2011 when Galikova (3f Galileo-Born Gold, by Blushing Groom) was successful on Sunday. Goldikova’s half-sister, an easy G2 winner at Deauville on her previous start, took the G1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp in great style and is now likely to head to the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as one of the favourites. Speaking to www.racingpost.com about the Wertheimer brothers’ home-bred, trainer Freddy Head commented: said: “She's quite something. She just simple stayed - it was magnificent. What pleased me was that she stayed and the way she finished. Like her sister, she has won a Group 1 and they didn't go that quick but she really ran on well. “It would be a great surprise if the owner didn't want to go for the Arc. Olivier Peslier said she won in better fashion than she did at Deauville and she will stay in training next year.”
