Galileo bandwagon rolls on with G3 success

The all-conquering Galileo had another smart Group winner at Leopardstown on Thursday night when Moyglare Stud home-bred Sense Of Purpose (4f Galileo-Super Gift, by Darshaan) continued her upward career curve with a success in the G3 Ballyroan Stakes. A Listed winner on her previous outing, the Dermot Weld-trained filly is now set for another step up in class after leading home a 1-2 for her sire when beating Marksmanship (3c Galileo-Maroochydore, by Danehill) in the 12-furlong contest. "We’ve won this race five times in the last 10 years. Vinnie Roe used to specialise in it," Weld told www.irishracing.com. "It was a wonderful ride by Pat (Smullen) but the real star of the show is the filly. She is small, barely 15.3 hands but is all heart and courage. "It is a joy to train a filly like her. She doesn’t know how to quit. We had been thinking about the Ebor but I doubt she will go there. I’m looking at the G2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster. One mile six furlongs is really her trip. We could have a think about the G1 Irish St Leger but she is more likely to go to the Park Hill. The plan is to keep her in training next year. She enjoys her racing."
