Galileo’s Jockey-Club winner Intello warms up for more G1 glory
France’s top three-year-old Intello (3c Galileo-Impressionnante) readily landed the G3 Prix Messidor at Maisons-Laffitte on Sunday as a stepping to some bigger targets through the season.
The G1 Prix du Jockey-Club winner, home-bred by the Wertheimer brothers, had ,little trouble justifying odds-on favouritism in the mile contest and he is set to have his next start in the G1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville on August 11.
Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager to the victorious owners, told PA Sport: “If the horse comes out of the race well we will go for the Jacques Le Marois now. That has been the aim,
“He ran a very nice race today. He was giving four kilos to the others and he was the only three-year-old in the race. All went well, so we are delighted. We will see. We want to go step by step. We wanted to drop him back to a mile and then go for Jacques Le Marois. After that we will talk with (trainer) Andre Fabre and decide.”
Some bookmakers now make Intello favourite for the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October and Bureau added: “ It is a little bit too early to talk about the Arc. Of course it is one possibility, but we think it is too early to say anything about that. We will see after the Marois if we can win that. Then we will decide the programme for the rest of the season.”
