Gamberetti 40th Graded Stakes Winner for Lookin At Lucky

Dual Group I-placed Gamberetti (3c Lookin At Lucky x Gran Garota, by Easing Along) became the 40th graded stakes winner for dual champion Lookin At Lucky this week when he won the Group II Clasico Copa Jackson in Chile.

Cutting back to 1 3/16 miles after three graded stakes at longer distances, Gamberetti raced in a comfortable second under Rafael Cisternas a few lengths off the leader.

The field tightened up as the field turned into the stretch and Gamberetti was briefly in third before given a tap to step up the pace and he quickly built a length lead with the best yet to come. He was kept to the task in the final furlong and no one was able to catch him with Gamberetti flashing under the wire 3 ¼ lengths in front.

Bred by Haras Don Alberto, Gamberetti is trained by Julio Orellana for El Tata. Registering his first stakes victory, the colt has also placed in four other group races with seven top three finishes in 11 starts.

One of two winners for his dam, Gamberetti is a grandson of Group II winner Gran Mujer, whose half-brother Mash One is a three-time Grade I winner – including two U.S. Grade Is. The mare is also a half-sister to Group I winner Exhortada and Grade II winner Reciclada.

An elite racehorse himself, Lookin At Lucky continues to sire major runners including Grade I Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and champion Accelerate and Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Country House.

In all, Lookin At Lucky has sired 64 worldwide stakes winners and 121 stakes performers in eight different countries. He stands for $15,000 in 2022.
