Getaway Gelding Thosedaysaregone Impresses On His Chase Debut

Getaway Gelding Has Bright Future Over Fences

Thosedaysaregone (6g Getaway - Gonearethedays, by Be My Native) impressed when beating a competitive field to win his first start over fences at Limerick on Sunday.

The Charles Byrnes-trained bay had some strong form over hurdles, but the market favoured the highly-rated Mall Dini (Milan), second in the Kim Muir Chase this time last year, while another fancied rival was Dakota Moirette, placed in hot handicaps earlier in the season.

Kevin Brouder rode Thosedaysaregone towards the back of the field, gradually creeping forward from halfway and made his challenge approaching the second last. Soon in front, he was driven clear to beat Mall Dini by four and a quarter lengths, with a further seven lengths back to Dakota Moirette.

Charles Byrnes said after the race, “I'm delighted with the way he jumped. He was a good jumper of hurdles and took to it (fences) today. I only started schooling him over fences two weeks ago but he really took to it straightaway.”

Bred by David Speiran, Thosedaysaregone is out of an unraced half-sister to the popular hunter chaser Uncle Junior.
