Gleneagles Colt Bolts Up At Goodwood
The well-regarded Remaadd (2c Gleneagles - Oojooba, by Monsun) added to a fantastic Sunday for Gleneagles when bolting up in the mile maiden at Goodwood.
The William Haggas-trained colt made a promising debut at Haydock earlier this month, when finishing second to a previous winner over seven furlongs. Sent off a short-priced favourite on Sunday, he chased the leader under Tom Marquand and was asked to quicken from two furlongs out. He was carried left approaching the final furlong, but it did nothing to dent his challenge, as he led soon after and drew clear to score by four and a half lengths.
Remaadd looks set for a step up in class after his impressive maiden win and holds an entry in next month’s Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes. Bred by Godolphin, the exciting colt carries the colours of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.
His impressive win came shortly after Gleneagles’ son Mill Stream recorded back-to-back Stakes wins in the Group 3 Prix de Meautry, while Jack Darcy (Gleneagles) completed a Group double for his sire on the card when making all to win the Group 2 Grand Prix de Deauville.
