Gleneagles Filly Blows Them Away In Goffs Million

One Look (2f Gleneagles - Holy Salt, by Holy Roman Emperor) produced a scintillating debut performance to win Europe’s richest two-year-old race, the Goffs Million, at the Curragh on Saturday.

Paddy Twomey’s newcomer faced much more experienced rivals, many highly-rated, in the seven furlong contest boasting a winner's purse of €610,000. Ridden patiently by Billy Lee, the daughter of Gleneagles cruised into contention approaching the final furlong and soon led. Ridden clear, she was pushed out to score by six lengths as Group Lowther Stakes second Cherry Blossom (No Nay Never) did best of the remainder.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “She's been a nice filly all year and I gave her an (Irish) Guineas entry on Wednesday. I'm delighted as the owners sent me two horses this year for the first time and both have won first time out now. Juxtaposition (Churchill) won the first mile maiden at Leopardstown.”

Owned by the Connolly Racing Syndicate, One Look is now 14/1 for the 1,000 Guineas. The exciting daughter of Gleneagles was bred by Tullpark Ltd out of the useful Holy Roman Emperor mare Holy Salt.
