Gleneagles Filly Hits The Million Mark At Arqana
Freville (2f Gleneagles - Freauville, by Le Havre) will aim to reward new connections in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac after the Group 3 winner sold for €1million at the Arqana Arc Sale.
The Christopher Head-trained bay carried the colours of owner/breeder Gerard Augustin-Normand to victory in a Group 3 over course and distance last time out, and it was later revealed that Normand retained a share in the daughter of Gleneagles. Successful purchaser Pierre Talvard later explained, “I will take 25 per cent, Ecurie Melanie 25 per cent and Gerard Augustin-Normand will keep 50 per cent. I can’t believe it!”
The delighted buyer continued, “If you had told me ten years ago that one day I would be buying a filly at this price, I wouldn’t have believed you. But in the end, rather than buy a mare this winter I have bought a two-year-old who will be worth more if she wins tomorrow, and won’t lose any value if she doesn’t. I don’t know how else to explain it, but I had to have her. It was love at first sight!”
Freville will now aim to provide her young trainer with back-to-back wins in Sunday’s Group 1, having won last year’s running with the top-class Blue Rose Cen (Churchill).
