Gleneagles Filly Wins Maiden In Good Style
Freville (2f Gleneagles – Freauville, by Le Havre) built on two smart runs in defeat to run out a commanding winner at Clairefontaine on Saturday.
Trained by Christopher Head for Gerard Augustin-Normand, the daughter of Gleneagles finished second to subsequent Stakes winner Les Pavots on debut and was narrowly denied next time out. Stepping up to a mile on her third start, she was settled in midfield by Aurelien Lemaitre and was pushed along on the turn for home. Ridden to lead passing the final furlong marker, she ran on strongly to win by three lengths, with another three and a half lengths back to the third.
The promising daughter of Gleneagles is the first foal bred by Franklin Finance out of the unraced mare Freauville.
