Grade 2 Cheltenham Glory for Flemensfirth’s Lostintranslation

A game attitude and a taking round of jumping saw Lostintranslation (7g Flemensfirth - Falika, by Hero’s Honor) capture the Grade 2 Dipper Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham on New Years Day.

Runner-up in last year’s Grade 1 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle, Colin Tizzard’s charge finished second on his chase debut in November and followed up with a third in the Grade 2 Berkshire Novices’ Chase on his next start. Ridden by Robbie Power once again on Tuesday, the bay led until Defi Du Seuil headed him at the second last, but Lostintranslation dug deep up the Cheltenham hill to rally back. Asserting in the final 100 yards, he denied his rival by a length and a quarter.

Tizzard commented after the win, “He's a beautiful big creature. Hopefully he'll run in a Gold Cup one day because he's got pace, he stays and he jumps.” Tizzard also eluded that a trip to Leopardstown may be next for Lostintranslation, before returning to Cheltenham for the JLT or RSA Chase.

Owned by Taylor and O’Dwyer, Lostintranslation was bred by ARMM Kavanagh and finished fourth on his sole point-to-point start for the late William Codd.
