Group 1 Targets For Galileo’s Latest Stakes Winner
Magic Attitude (3f Galileo – Margot Did, by Exceed And Excel) may now be aimed at Group 1 level, after making a winning return in the Group 3 Prix Vanteaux at Longchamp on Thursday.
The Fabrice Chappet-trained bay won her maiden last September and went on to finish third in a Listed contest later that month. Stepping up slightly in trip to nine furlongs on Thursday, she raced in midfield for much of the way and was asked to quicken from two furlongs out. Driven to lead inside the final furlong, she kept on strongly under Tony Piccone to win by two lengths from the favourite, previous Listed winner Emoji.
Speaking after the race, Fabrice Chappet said, “She was unlucky in her Listed race, had definitely improved over the winter and won very easily today. We did expect some improvement, with her being by Galileo and I am very lucky to have received her. She is in the Poules d’Essai des Pouliches and all options are open, so it is for the owners to decide but the way she won today the Saint-Alary is the logical option.”
Owned by Haras Du Saubouas, Magic Attitude was bred by Katsumi Yoshida and is a full-sister to Group 2 Prix de Sandringham winner Mission Impossible (Galileo), who has also placed at Group 1 level on two occasions. The pair are out of Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Margot Did, and are bred on the same cross as last year’s Epsom Derby victor Anthony Van Dyck (Galileo).
