High Hopes For Sottsass Yearlings At Tattersalls Book 2
Demand for the first yearlings by Sottsass is expected to be high at the Tattersalls Book 2 Sale, following a median price of 150,000gns achieved at Book 1.
The champion three-year-old and Arc victor will be well-represented across the three days, with 11 yearlings to be offered by renowned consignors. Lot 614 from Baroda Stud sets the tone, as a half-brother to multiple Group 1 winner Laurens, while Sottsass’s next offering from West Park Farm is a half-brother to Group 1 scorer Dick Whittington (Lot 653). Round Hill Stud continue the theme with a half-sister to Stakes-winning two-year-old Beauty Crescent. The chesnut (Lot 796) is out of dual Graded winner Up In Time, whose four runners have all won.
Tuesday sees Whatton Manor Stud offer a Sottsass half-brother to Listed scorer Furrion (Lot 842). Camas Park Stud follow with a striking Sottsass filly (Lot 858) out Group winner Albisola, who is the grandam of Group 2 winner and Group 1 performer Purplepay. Mount Coote Stud’s Sottsass filly (Lot 874) is also out of a black-type mare and benefits from an update, courtesy of Group 2 runner-up River Of Stars under the second dam.
Quality pedigrees continue in the Knockainey Stud draft, featuring a Sottsass half-brother to Group 3 heroine Great Page (Lot 887), whose first foal is a Stakes performer. Stauffenberg Bloodstock later offer a Sottsass colt (Lot 1042) out of a Listed winning daughter of three-time Group 1 winner Elle Danzig.
On the third and final day of Book 2, WH Bloodstock consign a Sottsass half-sister to Listed winner Chichester, out of Group 3 heroine Havant (Lot 1137). Furnace Mill Stud consign Courtleigh Stud’s Sottsass filly out of a half-sister to Group 1 performer Princess Loulou, now better known as the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Nashwa. The final Sottsass yearling catalogued at Book 2 comes from Croom House Stud, a colt (Lot 1257) from the family of top-class racehorses St Mark’s Basilica and Magna Grecia.
