Impressive Fastnet Double
Fastnet Rock is running hot with six winners in seven days and a winning double at Geelong on Tuesday featuring a couple of very impressive three year-old maiden winners, both trained by Mark Kavanagh.
First to salute was three year-old filly Rock Culture (3f Fastnet Rock x Multicultural, by by Marscay), who dished out a galloping lesson to her hapless rivals when bolting clear to win the 1200 metre maiden by four and a half lengths.
Having just her second start and resuming from a spell from an unplaced debut, Rock Culture could not have been more impressive.
A $160,000 purchase from the Baramul draft at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Rock Culture is the first winner for Marscay mare Multicultural, a half-sister to Group III Canberra Black Opal Stakes winner Coral Salute.
Making it a race to race double was Atlantic Jewel (3f Fastnet Rock x Regard, by Zabeel) , another three year-old filly, who beat older competitors to win the 1100 metre maiden by more than a length in an impressive debut.
A $320,000 purchase from the Vinery Stud draft at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Atlantic Jewel runs in the Coolmore colours and is the first licing foal of the well bred Zabeel mare Regard, a grand-daughter of Group I Cheveley Park Stakes winner Pass the Peace.
