Improving Gleneagles Colt Makes All To Maiden Success

The James Tate-trained One Over Par (2c Gleneagles - Cherrington, by Lope De Vega) continues to improve with every run and got off the mark in Tuesday’s Novice Stakes at Newcastle.

Fourth last time out over course and distance of six furlongs, the bay made all under PJ McDonald and quickened when asked approaching the final furlong. Keeping on well under pressure, he held off a persistent challenge by Batraan to win by a short head, as the front pair drew two and a half lengths clear of the favourite in third.

Owned by Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum, One Over Par was bred by R Kelvin-Hughes out of a half-sister to top-class miler Toronado (High Chaparral).
