Improving Pair Complete Double For Gleneagles

Camarrate (3g Gleneagles - Celtic Cygnet, by Arcano) completed a double for Gleneagles on Monday when winning his second start in the mile and a half Novice Stakes at Kempton.

Unsuited by heavy ground on debut, the Grand Teur-trained bay was partnered by Daniel Muscutt on Monday and raced in second for much of the way. Improving from two furlongs out, he disputed approaching the final furlong and soon led. Keeping on well close home, he scored by three parts of a length, with the pair finishing four lengths and three quarters clear of the third.

Bred by Oak Hill Stud, the promising three-year-old hails from the family of Celtic Swing.

Earlier that afternoon, Harry The Haggler (3g Gleneagles - Tears In My Eyes, by Lilbourne Lad) drew clear to gain a deserved win in the mile maiden at Brighton.

Placed on his last four starts, Stuart Williams’ charge was sent off favourite under Marco Ghiani and raced in touch for much of the way. Pushed along from three furlongs out, he improved to lead approaching the final furlong and kept on strongly to score by six and a half lengths.

The son of Gleneagles was bred by Peter and Hugh McCutcheon out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Rich Tapestry (Holy Roman Emperor).
