Edison Kent (Leading Light) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Killarney

Improving Son Of Leading Light Lands Maiden Hurdle

Edison Kent (5g Leading Light - Kentish Town, by Flemensfirth) built on two promising runs to win Monday’s maiden hurdle at Killarney.

The Jessica Harrington-trained bay had finished third on his two previous starts and was given a more positive ride by Robbie Power on his latest start. Leading the field for much of the two and a half mile contest, he was ridden from two out and went clear on the run-in, winning by four and three quarter lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “It was a good performance and he has improved with every run.”

Owned by the Slaneyville Syndicate, Edison Kent was bred by Mr S Gorman out of a half-sister to black-type chaser I’m All You Need. He becomes the second winner in as many days from the first crop of Leading Light, whose son Tigers Roar landed the Five-Year-Old Geldings Maiden at Dromahane the previous day.
