In-Form Colt Completes Stakes Double For Mastercraftsman

Sunday saw the Peter Schiergan-trained Quian (4c Mastercraftsman - Quiana, by Monsun) land the feature Listed Hoppergartener Steherpreis at Berlin.

A dual juvenile winner, the Stall Hornoldendorf-owned colt won his first two starts this season and was dropping back in trip to a mile and a half at the weekend. Racing in midfield for much of the way, Schiergen’s charge improved his position approaching the turn for home and ran on to lead entering the final furlong. Staying on strongly, he won by two and a half lengths from Ida Alata, while All For Rome (Holy Roman Emperor) took third.

The son of Mastercraftsman was bred by Stiftung Gestüt Fährhof out of a winning half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Quijano. Hailing from the family of The Gurkha (Galileo), he completes a weekend Stakes double for his Castlehyde Stud sire, following Cabaletta’s Listed success at Newbury on Saturday.
