It’s no Secret - Galileo filly is leading Oaks contender

Galileo’s daughter Secret Gesture (3f Galileo-Shastye, by Danehill) is just 7/2 for the Oaks with some bookmakers after an electrifying victory in Lingfield’s Listed Oaks Trial in Saturday. Newsells Park Stud’s home-bred was having her first start of the season and was never pushed by jockey Jim Crowley as she coasted home 10 lengths clear of her rivals. Trainer Ralph Beckett won the Oaks in 2008 with Look Here, who had finished second in the same trial, and a trip to Epsom is very much on the cards for Saturday’s winner. “She shows up well at home and, though she probably didn't beat much there, she showed us what we wanted to see,” Beckett told “I've never felt she wanted this ground, and I don't think she'll have any problem with faster going, although she has to show it. I'm thrilled she did it the way she did - it was better than we hoped for. “David Simcock's filly [runner-up Miss You Too] was very keen, but Secret Gesture was very professional. I've not done very much with her and she's come here off one piece of work, but she’s a filly who wants nourishment, not punishment.” Galileo has dominated the week’s Chester Classic trials with Magician (3c Galileo-Absolutelyfabulous, by Mozart) winning the G3 Dee Stakes and Ruler Of The World (3c Galileo-Love Me True, by Kingmambo) capturing the G3 Chester Vase.
