Justify Set To Light Up Keeneland November Ring

Buyers will have 11 chances to purchase a weanling from Justify’s first crop next week when the group goes under the hammer at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale starting Monday.

As to be expected with a Triple Crown winning sire breeding to some of the top mares in the world, most are in Book 1 on Monday.

Justify’s first offering enters the ring as Hip 21 from Hunter Valley Farm on behalf of breeder Mountmellick Farm. A half-brother to multiple stakes winner Supreme Aura, there are stakes winners under each of the colt’s first seven dams with his own dam a half-sister to stakes winner Abraham and her dam a half-sister to three stakes winners with Group I winner Penelopa also under the colt’s third dam.

A three-quarter brother to Group II Gimcrack S. winner Legends Of War out of a daughter of stakes winner Maxxi Arte, Hip 56 bred by Hunter Valley Farm, Fergus Galvin and Golden Vale Farm is part of the Hunter Valley Farm consignment. A half-brother to three winners from three to race, the April-born colt also sees Group I winners Linngari and Mont Ormel among the others named on his page.

Bred by Town And Country Horse Farms, LLC, and Frank and Kim Taylor, Hip 67 goes through the ring as part of the Taylor Made consignment. The filly is out of top broodmare Mo Chuisle, who is the dam of champion Points Offthebench, Grade III winner Bench Points and stakes winner Molto Allegro from four five to race. There are stakes winners throughout the filly’s page with her granddam the Grade III winner Visible Gold, also the dam of Grade II-placed Visible Slew with the filly’s fourth dam the Grade I winner Alma North.

Stakes-placed Storm Dixie sees her chestnut daughter go through the ring as Hip 129 mid-way through Monday’s session as part of the Paramount Sales consignment. Bred by Barronstown Stud, the filly is a half-sister to multiple Grade I winner Princess of Sylmar in addition to stakes winner Biblical. Others on the filly’s page also include Group III winner Rhythm Band and Canadian champion Youcan’tcatchme.

Consigned by Eaton Sales on behalf of Forging Oaks Farm, Hip 161 is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Takeover Target and his stakes winning full sister Ladies’ Privilege from the five winners out of their winning dam Vanquished. Vanquished herself is a half-sister to dual Grade I winner Critical Eye and two other stakes horses in addition to the granddam of multiple graded stakes winner Shane’s Girlfriend.

The Narola LLC-bred Hip 612 goes through the ring as part of the Lane’s End consignment. A daughter of Grade I winner Emma’s Encore, the filly’s dam is also a half-sister to stakes placed Bertha Jo. Also on the filly’s page are Group III winner Wild Emotions and stakes winner Next Girl among eight stakes horses named under her first three dams.

A three-quarter brother to multiple Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Pretty N Cool, the Nancy C. Shuford-bred Hip 829 is part of the Elm Tree Farm consignment. The colt has seen three of his siblings win from five to race with his stakes placed dam Stayclassysandiego also a half-sister to Grade I winner Sean Avery and stakes winner W W American. Stayclassysandiego could have a big month of sales with the mare’s yearling colt selling for $235,000 at Fasig-Tipton two weeks ago, one of the 12 most expensive yearlings at that sale.

The final Justify weanling through the ring is consigned by Stuart Morris for Jumping Jack Racing and Mike Fowler as Hip 987. That colt is out of a Smart Strike half-sister to Grade I winner Awesome Maria, who won nine races in her career. The pair are granddaughters of Grade I winner Pretty Discreet, the dam of Grade I winners Discreet Cat and Discreetly Mine, in addition to stakes winner Pretty Wild and Grade III-placed Discreet Treasure.

Other Justify weanlings going through the ring include Gainesway’s Hip 116, a half-brother to stakes winner Lemoona from the family of Storm Cat; Hip 133 from Four Star Sales, a three-quarter brother to Grade III winner Divine Image; and the first foal out of a Group III-placed mare as Hip 298 from Nursery Place.

The Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale starts on November 9, 2020 at noon.
