Justify’s Yuttiham Wins Oasis in Japan

It was a first Japanese stakes winner for Justify on Saturday when Yuttiham (4c Justify x Zipessa, by City Zip) won the Oasis Stakes in Tokyo.

Racing over a mile on the dirt, Yuttiham broke strongly before settling into third where he was kept well in hand by his jockey. The sophomore was challenged in the stretch, but Yuttiham dug deep and grabbed the lead in the final furlong.

The Naosuke Sugai-trained runner won by a head to take his record to four victories from eight starts for owner Makoto Kaneko.

Bred by Shadai Farm, he is out of U.S. Grade I winner Zipessa and sold for $1,815,520 as a yearling in 2021. Zipessa is one of three stakes winners out of the stakes placed Precious Princess alongside stakes winners Majestic Code and Yukio.

The family also includes Uncle Mo’s stakes winer Mo Shopping, who is out of the stakes winner and Grade I-placed Stopshoppingmaria.

Justify has 14 winners in Japan, including the undefeated Awesome Result. That mare has won all five of her starts.
