Juvenile G2 1-2 for Galileo
The regally-bred Ballydoyle (2f Galileo-Butterfly Cove, by Storm Cat) put in a polished performance to take the G2 Debutante Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday, in the process rocketing to the front of betting markets for next year’s 1,000 Guineas.
A Newmarket maiden winner on her previous start, the sister to four-time G1 winner Misty For Me, led home a 1-2 for her sire Galileo when seeing off the improving Minding (2f Galileo-Lillie Langtry, by Danehill Dancer). Most Beautiful (2f Canford Cliffs-Saphira´s Fire, by Cape Cross), from the first-crop of Canford Cliffs, was a neck back in third.
Ballydoyle is now 8/1 favourite for the 2016 G1 1,000 Guineas and winning rider Joseph O’Brien commented: "She's a very nice filly. She jumped and travelled. I made the running and thought I went a nice even gallop. It was never really in doubt.
"She's a big long striding filly. She has a great pedigree and is genuine. She ticks all the boxes. The G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes is the obvious race. She has a lot of pace and could came back to six if she had to but I don't imagine she'll be doing that. She has a big engine."
