Melodic is Juvenile Stakes-Winner for Tale of the Cat
Exciting filly Melodic (2f Tale of the Cat x Christina’s Melody, by Unbridled’s Song) made it two wins in as many starts when taking out the $147,000 Joseph A Gimma Stakes at Belmont.
Trained by Leah Gyarmati, Melodic was an eye-catching debut winner at Saratoga at the start of the month, and took a step up for this tougher seven furlong assignment to power clear and win by three lengths.
"It was great,” said Leah Gyarmati.
“She broke so sharp, I wasn't expecting that. That worried me a little because I knew there would be a couple of horses that wanted to go, but Kendrick [Carmouche] did a great job getting her to relax. He kind of had to work to get up in there. She had a great trip."
A $50,000 Keeneland September yearling that improved to be a $150,000 OBS April 2YO Sale purchase, Melodic is the second winner for Christina’s Melody, a half-sister to stakes-winners Gratiaen and Cute Cognac.
She has the honour of becoming the 100th stakes-winner for evergreen sire Tale of the Cat.
