Larrykane Impressive Six Length Winner for Practical Joke
Practical Joke registered his 27th worldwide winner when Larrykane (2c Practical Joke x Alucina, by Powerscount) won by six lengths on debut at Club Hipico.
Racing over five furlongs on the Chilean dirt, the colt burst from the gate and was the only one to stick with the runaway leader, sitting a length behind him with the rest of the field lengths behind. Larrykane confronted the pacesetter as they entered the final furlong and a half and was soon well in charge with jockey Felipe Henriquez just keeping him focused to the line.
Prepared by Rodrigo Sanchez, Larrykane races for Super Super and was bred by Haras Paso Nevado.
Out of Group II winner Alucina, Larrykane is a half-brother to Lookin at Lucky’s stakes winner and Group II-placed Alao in addition to his Group II-placed Aluina. Alucina herself is also a half-sister to Group II-placed Destello del Alma and out of U.S. stakes winner Alanite.
The colt’s fourth dam is Group I winner Triumphal, who also produced Group I winner Camiunch and Group I-placed Triology with Triology the granddam of Group I winner Tarsilia.
Practical Joke ended 2021 second on the freshman sire list by earnings and led all freshmen with six juvenile stakes winners. His 25 Northern Hemisphere winners was also among the best of his crop. Practical Joke stands for $35,000 this year.
