Sigh No More (Starspangledbanner) Wins At Roscommon

Likeable Starspangledbanner Filly Gains Second Straight Win

Sigh No More (2f Starspangledbanner – Silent Thoughts, by Galileo) produced another game performance to record back-to-back wins at Roscommon on Tuesday evening.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained filly finished strongly to land a Galway maiden earlier this month and was sent off favourite to follow up in the Irish EBF Auction Series Race over seven and a half furlongs. The bay took close order behind the leader and was pushed along with three furlongs left to race. She overcame signs of inexperience to challenge a furlong later and was ridden to lead entering the final furlong. She ran on well to score by a length and a quarter, with another two lengths back to the third.

“Once I got down around the bend she was still very raw,” said winning rider Dylan Browne McMonagle. “I knew turning in if I got her into top gear she'd outstay them and she did it well at the line. Hopefully she can keep progressing and I think she'd going to come on again for that.”

Bred by Barronstown Stud, Sigh No More is owned by Bronsan Racing and Stride Racing. The daughter of Starspangledbanner is a half-sister to blacktype stablemate Unreasonable (No Nay Never).
