Diamond Eyes (Rock Of Gibraltar) Wins Her Maiden At Navan

Listed Aim For Smart Rock Of Gibraltar Filly

Diamond Eyes (2f Rock Of Gibraltar - Bonny Rose, by Zaha) built on a promising debut to take the five and a half furlong fillies’ maiden at Navan on Saturday.

A close fourth at Dundalk last month, the Sarah Dawson-trained filly faced 16 rivals on her second start and was once again ridden to make all by Alan Persse. Still clear at the two furlong marker, she was ridden out to hold off the short-priced favourite Watercolormemories by half a length.

Sarah Dawson believes there is much more to come from the winner and later said, “She has a lot of speed, she's a very speedy filly. She's very straightforward and absolutely loves her job. I wouldn't mind a barn full of ones like her. We were confident today. We'll probably try her in a fillies Listed race now, I think a lot of her.”

The daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar was bred by Peter McCutcheon out of a winning daughter of dual Stakes winner and Group 1 Prix Morny third Marina Park.
