Wow Cat (Lookin At Lucky) winning the Grade I Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park

Lookin At Lucky’s Wow Cat Lights Up Fasig-Tipton Ring

After a career that saw her win Grade Is in both the U.S. and Chile, Wow Cat (5m Lookin At Lucky x Winter Cat, by Cat Thief) added to Lookin At Lucky’s commercial resume when selling for $1.7 million at Fasig-Tipton’s November Sale as the fourth most expensive Racing Or Broodmare Prospect during the Tuesday night event.

A success in her native Chile with four Grade I victories to her name, Wow Cat hit the track running when moving to the U.S. in 2018 and soon registered her first Group I in the country with a Beldame Stakes victory. The mare finished second in last year’s Grade I Breeders’ Cup Distaff and registered two on-the-board finishes in four starts this year.

Consigned by ELiTE Sales, the mare was raced by Peter Brant and Stud Vendaval during here time in the U.S. The mare was bred by Haras Paso Nevado out of Winter Cat, who has also produced two other stakes horses. Winter Cat is a half-sister to two stakes winners, including Lookin At Lucky’s stakes winning Lucky Winter.

Lookin At Lucky recently sired his 50th stakes winner when registering a graded stakes double in Chile over the weekend.
