Magna Grecia Colt Gets Off The Mark In Fine Style

Majed (2c Magna Grecia - Callisto Star, by Fastnet Rock) became the latest winner by first season sire Magna Grecia when producing a smart performance at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

John and Thady Gosden’s charge finished second to subsequent Group performer Ambiente Friendly (Gleneagles) on debut, before chasing home the now 92-rated Accumulate (Calyx). He was reunited with Kieran Shoemark in the Novice Stakes over a mile and raced prominently throughout in a field of 11. Pushed along before the two furlong pole, he was ridden inside the final furlong and led soon after, running on to win by two lengths going away.

Majed sold for €210,000 to owner Najd Stud and Prince Faisal Bin Khaled at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale. The €145,000 yearling was bred by Kevin Molloy and is a half-brother to Grade 1 heroine Rhea Moon (Starspangledbanner).
