Magna Grecia Filly Runs Out A Promising Winner
Samra Star (3f Magna Grecia – Bint Samraan, by Shamardal) shaped like a smart prospect when winning her second start in the fillies’ novice stakes at Wolverhampton on Friday afternoon.
The Richard Hughes-trained bay caught the eye on debut last month, when finishing fourth over seven furlongs. Stepping up to nine furlongs on Friday, she raced in touch with the leaders and was asked to quicken before the two furlong pole. Racing wide on the turn for home, she overcame greenness to lead a furlong out and went on to score by two lengths.
The first crop daughter of Magna Grecia is owned by Jaber Abdullah and was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock.
