Mahler bumper winner full of promise
Trainer Nicky Henderson was full of praise for OK Corral (5g Mahler-Acoola, by Flemensfirth) after the five-year-old made an eye-catching winning debut at Kempton on Friday.
The son of Mahler took command in the closing stages of the 14-runner bumper under Barry Geraghty to win by two and a half lengths.
“That was a really impressive run,” Henderson told the Racing Post. “OK Corral is a tank and gives the impression he will just keep on galloping. We´ve always liked him and this division (of the bumper) looks the better one on paper.”
OK Corral, who was bred by Declan Dorgan, is out of a sister to multiple G1 winner Tidal Bay (14g Flemensfirth-June´s Bride, by Le Moss). He was sold for €90,000 at the 2013 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
Mahler is standing for €5,000 at The Beeches Stud in 2015.
