Mahler Mare Justifies Support In Ballinrobe Bumper

Rambling Rose (5m Mahler - Tisindabreedin, by Zaffaran) defied a lengthy absence to take Wednesday’s mares’ bumper at Ballinrobe.

Last seen in May 2019, the Stephen Ryan-trained chesnut was well-supported in the market and was partnered by top amateur Patrick Mullins. Racing wide throughout, she took closer order behind the leaders from halfway and was ridden as they approached the final furlong. Soon in front, she kept on well under pressure to win by half a length, as the front pair raced seven and a half lengths clear of the field.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “I was delighted to get Patrick and she'd been working well. She's a gorgeous filly and Patrick liked her.”

Owned and bred by William Fitzgerald, Rambling Rose is a full-sister to point-to-point and hurdle winner Mahler And Me (Mahler).
