Honey Come Home (Mahler) Wins At Ballingarry

Mahler Mare Lands Competitive Maiden For Doyle

Honey Come Home (5m Mahler - Pixie Dust, by Desert King) showed an admirable attitude to dig deep and battle for her maiden win at Ballingarry on Sunday.

The Pat Doyle-trained bay was having just her second start, having shown good promise when finishing a close third on debut at Loughrea last month. Once again partnered by Ben Harvey, she chased the leaders for much of the way and improved to dispute the lead four from home. Joined by Sailingtobyzantium at the last, she rallied well under pressure and regained the advantage close home, prevailing by a neck on the line.

It looked a strong contest judging by the close finish and the fact that it recorded the fastest time of the day.

Honey Come Home was bred by Jim Lanigan and is a full-sister to Thebarrowman, a winner of his bumper, over hurdles and between the flags, while half-brother Warrantor was Grade 3 and Listed placed over fences.
