Mares in foal to Home Affairs Sell for Up to $550,000

The Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this week produced strong results for mares in foal to I Am Invincible’s dual Group I winning son Home Affairs with smart stakes-winner Broadwayandfourth the top seller fetching $550,000.

Consigned by Yarraman Park, Broadwayandfourth is a Group III placed stakes-winner by Smart Missile from stakes-winner Broadway Harmony and she was knocked down to Yulong.

“She was a very fast mare, a real get-up-and-go mare, a big strong Smart Missile mare,” said Sam Fairgray of Yulong.

“These good, running mares are always great to have to send to your stallions, so we’re really pleased to have her on board.”

Not far behind was the Newgate consigned imported Group II winner Inthemidstofbiz (USA), who was bought by Glenbawn Bloodstock for $525,000.

“She’s a very fast mare with proper American form. She’s a lovely mare and with a good cover to a really nice first season horse. Really happy and hopefully she can have a good foal,” said Newgate Farm’s Jackson Beirs, whose parents are buying as Glenbawn Blooodstock.

“My parents have made a small investment thus far. We have about eight or nine mares and they’ve got a small farm, he continued.

“They’re new investors in the thoroughbred game from a cattle background but they bought a farm in Scone about 18 months ago and they’re just starting to dabble in the game.”

Another big result for a mare in foal to Home Affairs was imported Group III placed Wootton Bassett mare Nimbostratus (Fr), who sold for $430,000 to David Redvers Bloodstock covered in her first season at stud.
