Marianafoot Becomes Latest Stakes Winner By Footstepsinthesand
Marianafoot (3c Footstepsinthesand - Marianabaa, by Anabaa) became the latest winner for his Castlehyde Stud sire when landing the Listed Prix Luthier at Deauville on Sunday.
Beaten just a quarter of a length in a Listed contest in July, Jean-Claude Seroul’s homebred colt had since switched to the stable of Jerome Reynier and won impressively last time out on his first start over seven furlongs.
Stepping up a half a furlong in trip over the weekend, the chestnut raced keenly in the early stages under Pierre-Charles Boudot, who waited until the straight to unleash his charge, rallying gamely under pressure in a headbobber with Indyco. Marianafoot snatched victory by a short head on the line, with a further length and a half back to the British-trained favourite, Hathal. It was a fifth career victory in eight starts for the winner.
Footstepsinthesand is a proven cross with Marianafoot's pedigree, his dam being a half-sister to multiple winner Genopi (Footstepsinthesand), while the Anabaa/Footstepsinthesand cross previously produced dual Stakes winner Sandy’s Charm.
2,000 Guineas victor Footstepsinthesand will remain at a covering fee of €10,000 in 2019.
