McConnell A Fan Of Leading Light After Bumper Win
Eco Pete (4g Leading Light - Lady Daisy, by Shernazar) ran out an impressive winner of Sunday’s bumper at Downpatrick to complete a treble for the John McConnell stable.
Fifth on debut in June, the son of Leading Light relished the step up to two miles and three furlongs at the weekend and was delivered to challenge two furlongs out by Alex Harvey. Ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, the chesnut went clear to win by eight and a half lengths, with another six and a half lengths back to the third.
“He was good there today,” McConnell later commented. “He stayed well and he thrives on his training. I quite like Leading Light horses - they are tough horses.”
