Mo Forza (Uncle Mo) Winning Gr.2 Del Mar Mile At Del Mar

Mo Forza Runs Away with G2 Del Mar Mile

Mo Forza (4c Uncle Mo x Inflamed, by Unusual Heat) helped keep his red-hot sire’s streak alive on Sunday at Del Mar when he romped in the Grade II Del Mar Mile to give Uncle Mo his fifth stakes winner in 12 days.

Mo Forza broke a little slowly but quickly moved up on the rail in the one-mile turf race to position himself in midpack as a pair of runners opened up over five lengths on the field in their own personal duel. Maintaining his position on the rail, Mo Forza was just behind the fading leaders as they entered the stretch and in only a matter of strides had squeezed through a hole. It wasn’t long until the colt had ended all chances of another winner, opening up lengths on the field.

In the final furlong, jockey Flavien Prat didn’t have to do much work to keep Mo Forza running and the colt built his margin with every stride to flash under the wire 4 1/4 lengths in front.

"Just a textbook turf ride -- he saved all the ground, didn't panic and when the hole opened up, he shot through there and it was over," trainer Peter Miller said.

Trained by Miller for OG Boss and co-owner and breeder Bardy Farm, it was the fourth stakes victory for Mo Forza with the colt winning five of his last six starts.

Mo Forza is the first foal for Inflamed, who is a full sister to Grade II winner Burns and Grade I-placed Brushburn. Among other Grade I winners on Mo Forza’s page are Politely, Street Band, and Manighar.

Inflamed foaled a Munnings colt in 2019 and returned to Uncle Mo this year.

All five of Uncle Mo’s stakes winners in the past two weeks have been raced by their breeders with the stallion siring six stakes winners and seven stakes horses in August alone. Uncle Mo has made an impact around the world this month with 27 winners in four different countries to again confirm his status as a top young sire.
