More Success for Madefromlucky

Madefromlucky (5h Lookin at Lucky x Home from Oz, by Pulpit) has found his mojo this year scoring another big win in the $200,000 Grade III Temperence Hill Invitational Stakes at Belmont on Sunday. Second and fourth behind Triple Crown hero winner American Pharoah in the Grade II Rebel Stakes and Grade I Arkansas Derby, the Todd Pletcher trained Madefromlucky won the Grade II West Virginia Derby at three, but was winless at four. He returned to form last start to win the Grade III Greenwood Park Cup and went on with the job to win this 1 and 5/8th mile contest by three parts of a length. “I was a little concerned he wasn’t really dragging Javier [Castellano] anywhere along the way like he did last time at Parx, but he was kind of in between horses,” said Todd Pletcher. “When Javier finally had the opportunity to get out and around he reengaged himself and came with a good run down the lane to get there. We were kind of looking to see what his specialty might be and it kind of looks like these distances suit him. We only tried it one time before previously [when sixth in the 2015] Belmont S., so it took a while to get back to it but he seems to enjoy it.”

Madefromlucky has won six races and placed 10 times from 25 starts earning over $1.3million in prizemoney.

A half-brother to stakes-placed A Shin Gold from a full sister to champion sire Tapit, Madefromlucky was a $70,000 Keeneland September purchase that was re-sold for $150,000 at the OBS March 2YO Sale.
