More To Come From Churchill Colt After Maiden Victory
Tarjeeh (2c Churchill - Myturn, by Rock Of Gibraltar) shaped like a smart prospect when landing a competitive novice stakes at Newbury on Friday.
A promising fourth on debut last month, the Owen Burrows-trained colt stepped up to seven furlongs on his second start and was ridden prominently by Jim Crowley. Pushed along approaching the two furlong marker, he was ridden upon entering the final furlong and ran on well to beat Dancing Magic (Camelot) by half a length on the line.
Speaking after the race, Burrows said, “Tarjeeh is a horse we've liked but he's still a baby. He's got a little bit of quality about him.”
Tarjeeh was sourced by Burrows as a yearling for 160,000gns and now runs in the colours of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum. The promising son of Churchill was bred by Gerard and Anne Corry.
