More To Come From Ten Sovereigns’ Latest Winner
Seven Eleven (2f Ten Sovereigns - True Verdict, by Danehill Dancer) appeared to appreciate a change in tactics when getting off the mark at Down Royal on Monday.
The Johnny Levins-trained bay shaped with promise on her first two starts, including when finishing fifth behind subsequent Group performer Gunzburg (Sioux Nation) over course and distance. Ronan Whelan rode her more patiently on Monday, waiting until after the two furlong marker to push her along and improved to lead inside the final furlong. Running on well when asked, she went on to score by three parts of a length from Gold Coast Galleon (Magna Grecia).
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer revealed, “We've always liked this filly at home but, unfortunately, on all of her runs nothing went right for her. I think we haven't seen the best of her because of those reasons. We could have a lovely campaign as a three-year-old with her.”
