Munnings’ Eda Sells for $2.55 Million at Fasig-Tipton November
Munnings was the sire of the fourth most expensive in-foal mare at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale this week when his Grade I winner Eda sold for $2.55 million to Amo Racing USA.
Offered by Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, the mare sold in-foal to Justify for her first foal on a March 24 cover. Bred by Nathan McCauley, the 5-year-old is the first foal out of Show Me, who is a winning Lemon Drop Kid half-sister to the Grade III winner Aegean and stakes winner Light Bringer.
The winner of eight of her 12 starts with two other top three finishes, Eda was a $550,000 2-year-old purchase and went back to earn $689,600.
Second in the Grade II Sorrento Stakes in her stakes debut, two starts later she would kick off a seven-race win streak with that group led by the Grade I Starlet Stakes.
“She was a Grade I-winning 2-year-old with a tremendous physical and she's in foal to a stallion who is going from strength to strength,” bloodstock agent Ben McElroy said after signing the ticket on the mare. “She fits the bill for a good long-term investment for Amo.”
Munnings is the sire of 10 stakes winners and 26 stakes performers in 2024, led by Grade I winner Howard Wolowitz.
