New Winner for Rubick
Exciting young sire Rubick had his third winner for the new season on Monday when Jailbreak (3g Rubick x Our Songbird, by Fastnet Rock) saluted at Goulburn as a hot favourite.
The highest priced yearling from the first crop of Rubick, the Brad Widdup trained Jailbreak scored by a length in the 1300 metre maiden at his second start since being gelded.
Jailbreak was bred and offered for sale by Segenhoe Stud at the Magic Millions and made $470,000 to the bid of Damion Flower's Jadesky Racing and Brad Widdup.
The 18th first crop winner for Rubick, Jailbreak is out of Our Songbird, a Fastnet Rock half-sister to stakes winners Debonairly and Corsaire, from the family of German champion Catella.
Our Songbird was one of 263 mares to visit Rubick last spring making him the busiest sire in Australia in 2018. The brilliant son of Encosta de Lago is priced this year at $38,500.
