Numerian (Holy Roman Emperor) Wins His Maiden At Dundalk

Numerian Is One To Watch For Holy Roman Emperor

Numerian (3c Holy Roman Emperor - Delicate Charm, by High Chaparral) looks set for bigger things after winning his maiden at Dundalk on Friday.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained colt was last seen finishing fourth over seven furlongs at the same track and seemed to appreciate the mile distance of his latest start. Held up in the 13 runner field by Wayne Lordan, he made gradual progress approaching the turn for home and made a challenge on the far side with two furlongs left to run. Disputing the lead inside the final furlong, he soon led and kept on to beat Unabridged by half a length.

“He’s a lovely big horse, and is still a bit raw. He’s a horse that is going to improve plenty. He finished out the race well.” said Lordan. Bred by Whisperview Trading and racing in the colours of Mrs Anne-Marie O’Brien, Numerian is a full-brother to the four-time winner Too Precious.

Holy Roman Emperor sired three individual Group 1 winners in 2018, in the shape of Irish 2,000 Guineas victor Romanised, Sword Dancer Stakes winner Glorious Empire and German Oaks heroine Well Timed. He will command €15,000 at Castlehyde Stud in 2019.
