Oaks Next for So You Think Filly

The Group I VRC Oaks is the next stop for exciting staying filly Smart As You Think (3f So You Think x Satirical Lady, by Giant's Causeway), who scored a late swooping win over older rivals at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate eve.

The John McArdle trained daughter of So You Think had been stakes-placed twice previously and cast off maiden status with a stylish victory in the 2040 metre open fillies and mares event.

Ridden quietly from an outside gate by Jamie Mott, Smart As You Think stormed around the field to power home and win by half a neck.

“Bring on the Oaks!” said Mott.

“She’s all class and will make a really nice staying filly.”

John McArdle was thrilled with the performance and believes the best is still to come.

“She’s a filly we have always had a big opinion of and always thought she was an Oaks filly, so it’s good to see her get there,” he said.

“We’ll go straight into the Oaks now. She’ll be a much nicer filly in six months time, so we need to space her runs.”

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for Slade Bloodstock, Smart As You Think is the third winner for Satirical Lady, a winning Giant’s Causeway mare from the family of former star mare Shania Dane.
