O’Callaghan Hoping For Further Success With Footstepsinthesand

Michael O’Callaghan will be hoping lightning strikes twice, after the Curragh trainer went to £140,000 for a Footstepsinthesand colt at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale.

O’Callaghan previously trained I Am Superman (Footstepsinthesand) to a rating of 107 in his native Ireland and retained a share in the colt upon his move to the Australian yard of Peter and Paul Snowden. The bay registered his second Group 2 success last month and contests the Group 1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

On his latest purchase, O’Callaghan commented, “He's a lovely horse, I saw him at the Curragh three weeks ago and he did an excellent breeze here.”

The son of Footstepsinthesand was consigned by Woodtown House Stud, who purchased him as a foal for €47,000.
